How Do You Eat Your Meals?

When most people think about nutrition, the first two things that come to mind are WHAT they’re eating and HOW MUCH. Although food choice is a key component of healthy eating (as we learned yesterday), the WAY we eat also determines how our bodies process our meals.

Fact: Most of Us Eat Too Fast

Be honest. How often do you set aside a good chunk of uninterrupted time to sit down and thoroughly enjoy your meals? As we learned during phase one, our culture values busyness and efficiency, which often translates into rushing through our work and personal lives on a daily basis. It’s no different with eating.

The following video shares the fascinating reasons why human beings evolved to eat fast, along with the dangers of continuing to do so now. I was particularly shocked about the fact they shared around 4:20. I won’t spoil it, but I will say that it sheds light on why processed foods taste SO delicious and why we tend to eat so much of them! Watch the video to find out.
